I am a friend or relative of a resident 5 4 1. Caring I was able to visit Vista Cove at San Gabriel, and I like this facility a lot because it seemed much cleaner and nicer than the other facility I've visited.
Their rooms were nice and big. When I first met the staff, they seemed very nice. I visited this facility 5 4 1. They ordered me around to pass magazines to the citizens, or to play games with them.
Most of the people in the assisted living facilities did not want anybody to treat them. I worked in the memory care unit where I helped treat people with dementia and memory loss. I went daily, but most of them still did not recognize me even after 50 hours of community service that week.
The staff was mostly Filipino, and they were very kind, but they never gave me clear instruction of what to do most of the time. The facilities are top-notch. They have a flat-screen television with a Wii console, and a karaoke machine.
The whole memory care unit center was very large, and it contained a small room with a library. There are many wheelchairs for accessibility, and an elevator so I would guess it takes a lot of money to live there.
Most of all, I liked volunteering at Vista Cove, and I am planning on going again. I visited this facility 5 3 1. Our experience has been very positive.
I really have nothing bad to say about any aspect of Vista Cove's service. The facility is clean. The staff is friendly, professional and responsive. Medications are administered accurately and on a regular schedule. Regular activities, including bingo three times a week and a special monthly candlelight dinner and are available to help keep the residents entertained.
The kitchen serves three meals a day and residents are able to eat in their rooms or in one of two dining areas. There is an exercise room available for residents who are physically able to take advantage it. Religious services for a number of different faiths are available, too.
My Mom would prefer to live at home, but unfortunately that is not possible. Having said that, she is just about as pleased with her life at Vista Cove as she could possibly be at any nursing home.
She spends her time watching television or reading her Kindle in her room without significant disturbance. She is able to get her hair and nails done just about as often as she likes. Visiting hours are generous. I visit my Mom almost every day after work. The main entrance is usually locked nightly at about 8pm but it is still possible to visit residents after the door is locked. I am a friend or relative of a resident 5 5 1.
