I don't care about the dictionary file, so if that's all it does no big loss. I can't quite understand why it's an "Important" update though. Anyway, thanks to the always excellent System Restore it's a much less issue than it would have been otherwise. It's the second time since it was introduced it's saved me last time on XP. Hawkdriver: I didn't try the IDE trick, since it's not really an important patch. Your input was much appreciated and I'll keep it in mind in case I get bored on a weekend and want to go looking for trouble I do that more frequent than you'd think.
I was out of town when the updates were installed, so I would put my laptop into hibernation mode instead of shutting down. Prior to getting on an airplane I shutdown my laptop.
After returning home on July 10th, I turned on my laptop and after a while I got a message stating it couldn't startup normally and it gave me the option to restart normally or repair. I tried the restart normally and got the same thing. I chose the repair option and it went through a whole bunch of testing and said it couldn't repair it.
I clicked the link for details and it showed all the tests as passing, then the last entry stated it couldn't start up due to a recently installed patch. I did a restore to July 7th and all was fine with my laptop. I turned off automatic updates and did the 7 updates one at a time shutting off the laptop after each one. For the first week after I started having problems it only manifested itself after I installed this particular patch, but a few days ago it started occuring both during startup and while Windows was already running.
Your problems are probably unrelated to the patch as well. There are some issues with hibernation and shutting down properly. You should google it for more information. Same problem here, with the crcdisk. Automatic Update once again installed and the same problems occurred. I just uninstalled it and don't plan on reinstalling it ever Office Office Exchange Server.

The problem It shows the Microsoft loading screen, with the little green dots going from left to right, continously for about minutes usually the screen is only there for about seconds. Isolating the issue I know with reasonable certainly that it is KB that's causing the issue.
Tuesday, July 15, PM. Frode I don't have any ideas why this update would cause serious problems like you describe? Have you tried to put a delay into the IDE at bootup? I am not certain this will work, but it may be worth a try. Recommended Posts. XP1 Posted August 6, Posted August 6, Are there any updates for Vista x64 in ?
